Gord Ahier, CPA, CA
Partner   

After completing the CICA In-Depth Tax course at a local office of a National accounting firm, Gord joined forces with Dave McClurkin in 1990 to found McClurkin Ahier & Company LLP. Gord’s practice areas have continued to have a significant tax focus and have broadened to include practice areas that focus on not-for-profit organizations, professionals and local businesses. Under Gord’s leadership, the firm has continued to grow along with its clients while adding depth and practice areas along with the most important resources: people.

Gord invests a significant amount of time with several local charities and not-for-profit organizations both as a board member and mentor. In the midst of this, Gord enjoys travelling with his wife and spending time with his five adult children.

Randy Shantz, CPA, CGA, CFP
Partner

Randy joined the firm as a student in 1992, obtained his CGA designation in 1997 and very quickly became a principal of the firm. He assists his diverse client base of owner-managed businesses, including; construction, professionals, retail and transportation in achieving their goals by providing accounting, financing, budgeting, income tax services and other business advisory services.

Randy is actively involved in the community with various not-for-profit and charitable organizations and is currently a board member of the Mennonite Savings and Credit Union. As an avid sports fan, he has enjoyed coaching his children in both hockey and soccer in the past. He also enjoys playing golf, travelling, and enjoying the great outdoors and spending time with his wife and two children.

Tim Adams, CPA, CA
Partner

Tim Adams came to us with several years of experience serving large corporate and government organizations with a National firm where he obtained his designation as a CA. He has been a Partner of MAC LLP since 2006. Tim provides his diverse client base of owner-managed businesses and charitable organizations with his knowledge, experience and insight.

Tim is actively involved in the community and sits on the board of KidsAbility. Tim enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.

Calvin Lodder, CPA, CGA
Partner

Calvin obtained his CGA designation in 1998. Although most of the past 30 years have been in public accounting, he also spent ten years of his career as a Controller in the retail and construction industries. He joined the firm in 2013, driven by his desire to assist clients with his insight into the day to day challenges of operating a business. He continues to gain experience in the not-for- profit sector, where he functions as treasurer on the boards of several local charities. He joined as Partner of MAC LLP in 2016 and provides accounting, tax and assurance services for a wide range of businesses and industries in the profit and not-for-profit sectors alike.

Outside the office, you will find Calvin at the soccer pitch where he and his wife have coached their five children in the beautiful game.

Tea Pupica-Terzic, CPA, CA
Senior Tax Manager

Tea is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier’s Honours Business Administration program and the 2009 Gold Medalist for the School of Business and Economics. Tea has spent her career practicing taxation in national firms, assisting a diverse base of individual and corporate clients with compliance and planning matters. She has particularly extensive expertise in the technology sector, having spent much time mentoring and working with start-up companies at the local technology incubators. 

Tea’s experience includes lecturing business courses at Wilfrid Laurier University. She donates her time to the Board of Directors for the Lisaard and Innisfree House, and chairs their Finance and Audit Committee. From a personal standpoint, Tea’s greatest passion is spending time with her family and two young children.

Kylie Bechtold, CPA, CPA (New York)
US Tax Manager

After graduating with her Masters of Accountancy and obtaining her CPA designation in New York in 2010, Kylie began working at a large regional firm in Chicago, IL.  She and her husband enjoyed five years of living and working in downtown Chicago before they moved to Elmira, ON, Kylie's hometown. Kylie joined MAC LLP in early 2015.

Kylie specializes in US tax and has played a vital role in driving the US practice at the firm. She deals mainly in US cross-border taxation and works with individuals in preparing, planning and assessing US tax filings. In the near future, Kylie will be obtaining her Canadian CPA designation in addition to her US CPA designation. 

Outside of the office Kylie enjoys discovering the hottest new coffee spots in the region and spending time with her husband and family, especially in Hilton Head and Northern Ontario.

Suzanne Welch, CPA, CA, BMath
Senior Manager

Suzanne Welch joined MAC LLP in early 2016, after working at other professional advisory firms for eight years. As an assurance manager, clients seek her advice on business matters ranging from financial planning to tax return preparation.

Her portfolio represents the diversity of her industry experience. Suzanne works closely with clients of various backgrounds including professional services, investment companies, real estate and not-for-profit. She designs and plans engagements, and provides budget forecasting, cash projections and advice to clients.

A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Suzanne attained her bachelor degree in mathematics with a financial option in chartered accountancy. She is Treasurer of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation of Canada and President of the Zeta Omega House Association, for the University of Waterloo chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is also a founding member of the Canadian Tiffany Circle for the Red Cross and has served on the Board of Directors for Cahoots Theatre Company.

Aditi Gupta, CPA, CA
Manager

Aditi obtained her CA designation in 2002 and her CPA (Colorado) designation in 1995. Aditi has worked in the public accounting field for the past 16 years in both the USA and Canada. Aditi joined the firm in 2009 as a Senior Accountant and became Manager in 2011. Aditi provides both accounting and assurance services to the Firm’s clients. She enjoys working with charities and not-for-profit organizations. Her satisfaction comes from knowing that the client’s requirements are met and she approaches every client file as though it was her own.

Aditi enjoys working at MAC LLP as it provides opportunities to work as a team and give back to the community. She also enjoys training upcoming accountants and assisting them in achieving their professional goals. Aditi lives in Waterloo and enjoys spending time with her family and travelling to various countries.

Ashley Furlong, MAcc, CPA, CPA
Manager

Ashley joined MAC LLP in 2015 after working at a National firm for several years. As a graduate of the University of Waterloo, Ashley attained her Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Management and her Masters of Accounting. She provides assurance and tax services to a wide range of clients, including owner managed businesses, charities and not-for-profit organizations. She appreciates the relationships she develops in assisting clients and mentoring upcoming accountants.

During her spare time, Ashley enjoys motorcycling with her husband and exploring new restaurants in the region. She also enjoys travelling and spending time with family.

Bryan Bauman, CPA, CA
Manager

Bryan joined the firm in 2004 after graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University.  He obtained his CA designation in 2009 and became a Manager in 2011.  Bryan works primarily with audit clients and particularly enjoys working with charitable organizations. He is very involved with his church and is active in his community through volunteering with local organizations. In addition, Bryan serves as the Treasurer of Conestoga Bible Camp.

When not in the office, Bryan enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.  He plays hockey and golf and will not turn down a good board game. Bryan also enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking and canoe trips.

Christine Webb
Manager

Christine Webb has been with the firm since 2010 and has been a Manager since 2011. She came to MAC LLP with 15 years of experience with two National firms. Christine has extensive knowledge in a wide range of owner managed businesses including construction, investments, manufacturing, retail and transportation. Christine provides exceptional client service with all aspects of your business from bookkeeping and CRA filings to tax planning, financial statements and corporate tax returns.

In her spare time Christine enjoys spending time with her children and travelling.

Sasha Sanichar, CPA, CA
Manager

As a graduate of Ryerson University in 2005, Sasha jumped right into the accounting profession, and has never looked back. Sasha joined MAC LLP in 2010 and was promoted to Manager in 2015. She has more than 10 years of public accounting experience in providing both accounting and assurance services to clients. She takes great pride in her work, and enjoys training and mentoring upcoming accountants to help develop their knowledge and skills.

During her spare time Sasha enjoys travelling and exploring the Caribbean Islands, and spending time with family.

Shane Cartwright, FMA, CIM
Wealth Management Advisor

Shane graduated from the Business Administration – Financial Planning program at Conestoga College in 2006. Since that time, Shane has worked for a large Canadian Bank, dealing with high net worth clients, before joining MAC Financial Services Inc. in 2015. With more than 10 years of financial planning experience, Shane is focused on helping his client’s achieve their personal and financial goals. Shane is responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive and tailored financial plans, as well as ongoing monitoring, to ensure his clients goals and objectives stay on track.

Shane is currently part of the Hot Shots Street Hockey Tournament committee, in support of Family & Children’s Services of Waterloo Region. In his spare time, Shane enjoys spending time with his wife and son, as well as playing golf, hockey and racquet sports.
